So you want to apply? Sounds great!

We begin accepting applications at the start of the academic year for positions beginning the following academic year. In other words, the applications we accepted starting in July 2021 were for the fellow that began her program in July 2022. Most applicants are starting their final year of residency when they apply. While we do not have a hard stop date for accepting applications, we must receive it with enough time to schedule an interview before NRMP rank lists are due, thus by early October is recommended.

The application itself is simple and straight forward. We do not participate in ERAS, so simply send the following materials to our coordinator, Velvet Green:

  • Your Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A personal statement (roughly 1 page long), generally covering the topics of your background/interest in EMS and why you have decided to do a fellowship

  • At least two Letters of Recommendation

    • One must be from your residency Program Director

    • While not specifically required, it is recommended that another be from an EMS physician with whom you have worked

Interviews may start as early as August, and we will continue interviewing candidates as needed up until NRMP rank lists must be finalized. They generally take place “virtually” by video conferencing due to the ease of organization, though physical visits to Chattanooga are welcome to applicants who are able and willing to do so.

We hope to hear from you soon!
